Double Duty!

I’ve got a double gig tomorrow night! Myself and Dan “Crash” Jenkins from Smokesum ‘N’ Jammsum will be opening the night of music at the Corunna Road Bar at around 930PM. I’ll be playing bass for most of the set, though there will likely be some double acoustic jams as well. We will be joined by a drummer we’ve never played with, who was at our debut performance and loved our setlist. His name is Tony Moreno and I’m excited to hear him play.

The band is titled “Crash Behavior” for that show, though that might not stick. I have a million of them really.

We’re opening for. . .Smokesum ‘N’ Jammsum! So after Dan and I jam through a bunch of songs on bass and guitar, respectively, we’ll be swapping instruments and playing drums and bass with S’N’J for the rest of the night! It’s an all-nighter for us!

In Static Factory news, we’re scheduled to have an acoustic performance Live on the internet on Saturday, September 22nd starting at 1PM on thelocalscream.com. I’ll be sharing links on Facebook around that time as well, because I’ll be the guest co-host for the entire TLS broadcast that day with Heather Metal, one of the main hosts for that show. If you tune in earlier you can probably hear me being a complete jackass about something.

If you’re interested to hear what SF will sound like acoustic, you can check the Local Scream archives for our performance from about a year ago, in early August of 2017. Or you can head over to our YouTube channel where I’ve recently uploaded new videos from an acoustic April performance.

T Minus ~3 Hours to Metal!

Static Factory returns to the stage at the Corunna Road Bar tonight! We go on late, but come early and see Steve Salter and the Dead Serious! Music starts at 930 and I’m excited for people to see our new drummer Dave in action!

Smokesum N Jammsum keeps booking gigs for me to play with them on the drums, so if Dave doesn’t bring enough thunder I’ll have some to spare. Check out the SNJ event page here

Heather from SNJ is also a host of the Local Scream Radio show, and I’ll be co-hosting her broadcast on September 22nd from 12-3, live on the internet. I’m going to try and bring Static Factory with me to play some acoustic tunes. I’ll put that on blast deeper into September.

Stay Metal, My Friends.

Busy Weekends Ahead

Well there’s a lot of stuff going on these days. Static Factory is back at it with new drummer Dave Kincius, and we’re playing a set at the Corunna Road Bar on Friday August 3rd, playing the entirety of Serenity is Far Away with a couple extra songs on the side. It’s going to be a barnburner with two other acts TBD at the moment!

Smokesum N Jammsum are playing a bunch this weekend, with a gig tonight at the CRB with Mutha F and the Heavy Boots (2 sets for each of us)! We’re also playing a show tomorrow at the Flint Motorcycle Club in support of their Rock the Bowl event! I have some free tickets and i will hand them out to anyone interested in coming!

Further, Daniel from the open mic in Holly which I frequent (Every Saturday night 8-11 at Andy’s Place downtown) has asked me to play a couple hours of acoustic music to open the open mic next Saturday, 6-8 on July 28th. I’ll be playing a mix of crowd-pleasers, weird pop, and grunge, though if there’s something you want in particular don’t hesitate to show up and make a request!

Drums, Drummers, and Drumming

It's all about hitting things with sticks for me lately. Static Factory has been without a steady drummer (see what I did there?) for almost 6 months now. We've tried to audition some fellows, but things haven't worked out so far. I'm happy to announce that we found someone, an old friend of mine who is still playing gigs with bands in southeast Michigan area. His name is Dave, and he's damn good. You can see for yourself on his drum cover youtube channel. Give him a like and a subscribe if you like what you hear there. I'm sure he'll appreciate it. He's also playing in Stone Temple Pilots tribute band the Stone Temple Prophets, so give them a check if you're into STP, which I am.

So hopefully Static Factory can get out there with Dave and start smashing metal for audiences soon. Keep your eyes peeled on this FB page for the details as we book some shows.

Also, I'll be playing the drums tomorrow night at the Corunna Road Bar with Smokesum N Jammsum, so if you just need that rock drumming fix, you can have it as soon as tomorrow! We'll be playing a mix of originals and 80s/90s power metal, so if you don't think I can play Megadeth covers I'll be there proving you wrong. Come dare me to try and play the correct poly-rhythm at the end of Sweating Bullets.

I'll also be doing a quick 20 minutes of acoustic songs tomorrow night at the open mic at Andy's Place in Holly, because I haven't been in a while and it's a great time. I go on at 830, but I'll have to leave right after for the later gig, sadly. If you prefer acoustic work you can do much worse than hanging out at Andy's Place on a Saturday night.

In the meantime, hit something with a stick today. I do it all the time.

OzzBash 2018 in Flint TONIGHT!

Hey! I'm playing the drums with Smokesum 'N' Jammsum in a couple hours, kicking off the party known as Ozzbash! Show starts around 9 at the Corunna Road Bar. We're the opener, followed by Fire & Ice, Buzz Bin, and finally Convergence Theory. There's another show tomorrow night as well, though SNJ isn't playing that one, so you'll only have one chance to see our dragon this weekend.

Static Factory continues to look for a replacement drummer. I've offered to do it myself, but our stage presence goes down like 200% when I'm not up front and thrashing about, so I've been told that isn't an option. If you know any skins-bashers looking to get their dad-metal on, let us know and we'll set something up. We continue to write material that will hopefully become a second album in the future, but it's slow going at the moment.

Dixon the Dirt might have some new life soon, as well. Robb has expressed some interest in writing some Folk/Country songs under that moniker, and I've already got a handful that I'm happy with, so we might have some other genre music soon, too.

Peace out, homies!
